The Elmwood Fire Department is committed to protecting lives, property, and the environment through professional, volunteer-driven fire suppression, emergency medical response, and public safety education. Proudly serving our community since 1869, we uphold the highest standards of service, training, and preparedness. “Professionally Staffed by Volunteers Since 1869,” we stand ready 24/7 to serve with integrity, dedication, and courage.

Located in the heart of Central Illinois, the Elmwood Fire Department is dedicated to providing exceptional fire protection, emergency medical services, and public safety education to the City of Elmwood and surrounding rural areas.

We proudly protect a service area of approximately 64.51 square miles, home to around 2,852 residents. Elmwood is a close-knit, family-oriented community with a strong agricultural heritage, scenic landscapes, and a resilient small-town spirit.

Elmwood Fire is staffed by a dedicated team of highly trained volunteer and including firefighters, EMTs, and specialized rescue technicians. Our department is equipped to handle a wide range of emergency responses, including:

• Structural & Wildland Firefighting

• Emergency Medical Services (EMS)

• Hazardous Materials Response

• Vehicle Extrication

• Disaster Preparedness and Recovery

We are deeply committed to community outreach and fire prevention, offering programs such as fire safety education in schools, smoke detector installations, home safety assessments, and community event participation. Our proactive efforts help keep Elmwood informed, safe, and resilient.

Our department maintains strong mutual aid agreements with neighboring communities, ensuring effective and coordinated responses to incidents of all sizes. With outdated facilities and well-maintained equipment tailored to the needs of our rural and suburban landscape, we deliver dependable, high-quality emergency services.
